About the speaker - Dr Stephen Barter
Stephen qualified in 1985 from Guys Hospital, London. Following a further period of postgraduate oral surgery and orthodontic training he gained the MSurgDent of the Royal College of Surgeons and is a registered Specialist in Oral Surgery.
He is a Lecturer and Specialist in the Department of Periodontology, Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. He has 25 years experience in Oral Surgery with 18 years involvement in clinical and academic implant dentistry. He is a Fellow of the ITI and immediate past Chairman of the UK and Ireland Section.
Stephen has been established in private practice in Eastbourne for over 20 years and established Perlan Specialist Dental Centre in 2007, bringing together specialist colleagues in other disciplines. His philosophy has always been one of comprehensive planning, combined with empathy to the patients needs.
Stephen also practices at The Esperance Hospital in Eastbourne. He lectures both nationally and internationally and regularly presents at major international conferences. His work is also published in both scientific journals and the dental press.

Learning outcomes
At the end of the day the delegate should:

- Understand the biological principles behind implant maintenance and be able to design a supportive therapy regime for patients
